Josephine S. Russell Charitable Trust Funds AquaTherapy Program

Life Enriching Communities Foundation recently received a $15,000 grant from Josephine S. Russell Charitable Trust through PNC Bank, Trustee.  The funds are designated for aqua therapy and were used to purchase underwater bicycles at both Twin Towers and Twin Lakes for therapy and exercise.

Studies have shown that underwater exercise provides a vast array of benefits for the elderly. It increases joint flexibility by reducing the effects of gravity, allowing a greater range of movement. It increases muscle strength by offering gentle resistance that is 600 times greater than air. It reduces pain by increasing the blood supply to the muscles and joints, and it helps improve balance by allowing a person to move about without fear of falling. On Aquatic Bicycles, older adults can ride, pain-free and worry-free, in the gentle embrace and safety of warm water.

We thank the Josephine S. Russell Charitable Trust for supporting the innovative programming we offer to assist residents and patients along their wellness journey
